About Me

Hello! I’m Olivia and I am the founder of Om Sanctuary Yoga.

I have always felt a connection to the sacred sound of 'Aum’ (spelt Om) - not just because of what it means but also because it is literally my initials (O.M!).

Om is the universal sound that connects us all (lots more to say about this but I’ll not delve into it here) and the ‘Sanctuary’ part refers to how I want my classes to feel for those who attend.

Sanctuary: A place of refuge where people (or animals) may find a sense of ease, safety and peace.

A sanctuary is exactly what yoga has felt like for me, ever since I first stepped on a yoga mat age 16 when I was studying for my GCSE’s. What started out as a way to manage stress, quickly became something that I was fascinated by and wanted to learn more about.

It was after my first trip to India in 2019 that I felt especially drawn to complete a yoga teacher training course. I originally wanted to go back to India to do this but we all know what happened in 2020!

Fast forward and after a particularly difficult time in my life, I decided to take the leap and complete my 200 hours in Hatha Yoga at Santosha Yoga Studio in Lisburn between 2021 - 2022. This course equipped me with a new sense of self-confidence and an excellent foundational knowledge about this ancient practice which I love so much. I qualified in October 2022 and started teaching my first classes that same month in Belfast.

Since then, I have also trained in:

  • Restorative Yoga (30 hours) - February 2024 - Yoga Quarter

  • Yoga for the Stages of Menopause - January 2025 - Niamh Daly

  • Creative Vinyasa (300 hours) - November 2025 - Sampoorna Yoga (Goa, India)

  • Emergency First Aid - April 2026 - Yoga Fellowship NI, BISP

My classes are beginner-friendly, warm, welcoming and with a strong emphasis on accessibility for all bodies and experience levels. I aim to honour the ancient roots of yoga as an Indian practice while sharing it in a way that feels grounded, inclusive, and supportive for modern life.
